Microwave Makeover
Microwaves are notorious for getting grimy quickly, spills and splatters are common. Regular cleaning is recommended to avoid any spills that do occur from getting baked on each time the microwave is used. Using the method below, you can keep your microwave looking new inside without having to use too much elbow grease.
You will need:
- Water
- Spray bottle
- Sponge
- Lemon essential oil
Method: Firstly, wet a sponge with water and place it in the microwave. Half fill a spray bottle with water and add 5 drops of lemon essential oil. Spray inside the microwave with the lemon water, make sure to cover every surface including the bottom, top, sides and inside of the door. Turn the microwave on for 2 minutes, once finished let the sponge cool down enough to hold and use it to wipe inside. Your microwave should now not only be sparkling, but should also small fresh.
Cleaning your Dishwasher
Dishwashers are a lifesaver in many homes, with such busy lives people just don’t want to spend hours everyday washing and drying dishes. To make sure your dishwasher continues to do its job properly, you need to show it a little love.
You will need:
- Dishwasher safe cup
- Vinegar
- Baking soda
Method: Begin by checking the drain area, make sure it is not blocked with any food scraps or rubbish. A blockage can cause damage to the pump and the dishwasher may also flood. Once that is taken care of, fill a dishwasher safe cup with white vinegar and place on the top rack. Run the dishwasher on the hottest cycle possible, make sure there are no other items in the dishwasher. The vinegar and hot water will work to wash away grease, as well as sanitise and remove any odours. Lastly, sprinkle a cup of baking soda around the bottom of dishwasher and run it through a short, but very hot cycle. Baking soda is fantastic for removing stains as well as any bad smells.
Bath and Shower Cleaning

You will need:
- Spray bottle
- 1 Part dishwashing liquid
- 2 parts white vinegar
- Scrubbing brush
- Microwave safe cup
Method: Put the vinegar in the microwave in a microwave safe cup until it is hot, pour into a spray bottle, add the dishwashing liquid and gently shake to mix. Spray shower and bathtub and leave on, the longer you leave it, the less scrubbing you will need to do to remove the grime. Try to leave it for at least 1-2 hours and then lightly scrub with a brush.
