February 10, 2024 SSBmarket

Building a new home is a big undertaking and there are many steps to the process. There’s a lot to understand. There’s also a lot to look forward to if you’re ready to start your first home building journey! Below is a simplified 6 step process of milestones you’ll come across during the building process.

Stage One – Finance

The very first stage of building your first home is working out your finances, and finding out a budget that suits you. It’s a good idea to find out exactly how much you can borrow, and doing this before you look at any home designs is recommended. Now is also the time to look into if you are eligible for any government grants, your building consultant will be able to advise you on how to do this. Our in-house finance specialists will get your home finance sorted.

Stage Two – Land

Once you’ve discovered your budget, now is the time to choose where you would like to build. Before deciding, consider what you want to be close to? Do you need to be near work or schools? Are you wanting to be close to family? Where you want to live is a personal choice, usually based on your lifestyle. Look into what estates are available in your chosen area, if you are not sure where to start a DreamStart consultant can find you a block in a location that suits you.

Stage Three – Floorplan

This is one of the most exciting parts of building a home, choosing a house design. Now is when you get the chance to really put your own stamp on your home layout, to make it suit your own individual family and lifestyle. You can select any of our wide range of plans, and also have the option to make modifications. There are lots of configurations to choose from, so you are sure to find something to suit your needs.

Stage Four – Pre construction

Pre-construction is basically the time when all the admin work pertaining to your build is completed, in preparation for construction to actually begin. Contracts, Pre-start (selecting the inclusions in your home), council approval, building permits, final plans, scheduling and more all need to be organised.
